No — M.I.T.T. is not a cult. And because we know this is a question some people quietly type into a search bar before enrolling — or before supporting someone they love who wants to enroll — we believe it deserves a direct, thorough answer from us rather than silence.
Skepticism about personal development is healthy. We teach people to think for themselves, so we would be the last to discourage you from researching us. Here are the questions people actually ask, answered plainly.
Mastery in Transformational Training (M.I.T.T.) is a personal and leadership development training company based in Culver City, California. We were founded in Los Angeles in 1998 by Margo Majdi, a Dutch-born entrepreneur who studied Psychology and Re-evaluation Counseling and worked as a counselor for seven years before dedicating her life to transformational education. Margo also founded The Torch Foundation, a charitable organization that made transformational training accessible to at-risk teenagers. She passed away in 2019, and M.I.T.T. continues her legacy today under CEO Roger Morgan and a team of veteran trainers. For more than 25 years, we have served thousands of graduates from every walk of life.
We teach experiential workshops with a defined beginning and a defined end: real exercises, group work, and coaching. The Basic Course runs three days. The Advanced Course runs five. The Legacy Program is four months of leadership development — four immersive weekends, weekly group sessions, and one-on-one meetings with a group facilitator — focused on setting and achieving real goals in every area of life: health, relationships, contribution, and finances.
Immersive personal development trainings are emotionally engaging by design, because lasting change rarely comes from a lecture. That intensity is real, and seen only from the outside it can look unfamiliar. But the marks of a cult are specific: a doctrine you must adopt, a leader you must follow, isolation from the people you love, and no freedom to leave. None of those exist at M.I.T.T.
There is no doctrine to adopt. Our graduates include Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and people of no faith tradition, and they consistently tell us the training deepened their existing faith and their engagement with their own faith community rather than competing with it.
There is no leader to follow. Trainings are led by professional trainers with 20-40+ years of experience whose names, photos, credentials, and full bios are public on our About page. They hold university degrees — including Master's degrees and Ph.D.s — have completed advanced study in ontological philosophy and emotional intelligence, and each completed a minimum one-year supervised internship before ever leading a course.
There is no isolation. The most common result graduates report is stronger relationships: clearer communication with spouses, parents, children, and colleagues.
And there is no obligation that follows you home. When your training ends, it ends. Some graduates — attorneys, entrepreneurs, self-made millionaires — choose to come back and volunteer with future classes, because they want to give the next class what someone once gave them. It is always a choice, never a requirement.
We publish our pricing because we believe you should be able to plan. The Basic Course is $695 (with a $395 deposit option) and the Advanced Course is $1,395 (with a $495 deposit option). Like every serious development curriculum — from executive education to the leading names in personal growth — our programs build on one another by design; each is a complete experience on its own.
Our refund policy is equally plain: tuition is non-refundable and is not transferable to another person. If a validated medical issue prevents you from attending, your tuition may be transferred one time to a future training date, and all tuition must be used within one year of purchase. You receive this policy in writing before you enroll.
People sometimes ask why graduates invite friends and family. Because enrollment is one of the most practical skills we teach. Whether you are raising capital for a startup, building a brand, interviewing for a promotion, or leading your family through a change — life is constantly asking you to enroll other people in a vision. Our trainings treat that as a learnable leadership skill: communicating something you believe in with courage, clarity, and respect for the other person's choice. In the Legacy Program, participants practice this in the most real way possible — by sharing the training with people in their own lives and helping create the next class. An invitation is exactly that: whether someone accepts is always their choice, and a "no" is always honored.
Our trainings are emotionally deep, and we take that seriously. Every participant completes a health disclosure form before training begins, and throughout the training you always share at your own comfort level — how deep you go is always your choice. The training is personal development education — it is not therapy and not a substitute for treatment. If you are currently in treatment for a mental health condition, we ask that you consult your clinician before enrolling, and our office is glad to speak with you or with your clinician about what the training involves.
We do not promise outcomes — anyone who guarantees transformation is overselling. What we provide is a structured, professionally led environment, proven experiential exercises, and honest coaching; what you get from it depends on what you bring to it.
